Free Annual Credit Report
Get your free credit report. The Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act (FACT Act), signed into law on December 1, 2003, provides all Americans the right to check their credit report once every year for free.
We urge you to order your free annual credit report. Check it for errors and follow the tips listed below to improve your overall credit rating:
- Pay your bills and loans on time.
- Keep your overall debt as low as possible.
- Keep a handle on credit cards. Too many cards or high revolving balances are red flags to lenders and can reduce your overall credit score.
If you would like assistance interpreting your credit report, please order a copy and visit any loan officer at SIR. We will be happy to review it with you and answer any questions.
There are three ways to request your free annual credit report:
- Online at www.annualcreditreport.com.

Safety Tips When Using Credit and Debit Cards
- Sign the back of a new card as soon as you get it. If you don’t, a thief could sign it for you – and use it.
- NEVER give your account number over the phone unless you initiated the call.
- Do not respond to high-pressure sales tactics until you have had enough time to make a careful and informed decision.
- Memorize your Personal Identification Number (PIN). Don’t write it down in your wallet or on the back of the card.
- If someone calls you claiming to be a bank representative and asks for your PIN number, don’t give it to them. Report it to us immediately.
- Be careful! Mail and telephone solicitations may not all be legitimate. Be careful concerning offers, which sound too good to be true, and never give callers your card number over the phone or by the mail unless you want them to charge your account.
- Never leave your cards unattended – at work, at your sports club, in a shop or in a doctor’s office.
Always check your card when you get it back in a store or restaurant. It’s easy for you to forget your card when you’re in a hurry. It’s easy for waiters or sales people to give you the wrong card when they are in a hurry.
More Safety Tips When Using Your Credit and Debit Cards:
- Keep your sales slips and check them off against your monthly statement to make sure no one else has used your card, or your sales draft wasn’t altered by a dishonest merchant.
- Know when your credit card statement is due and contact us immediately if you do not receive it on time.
- Destroy your billing statement before you discard it to prevent your account information from falling into the wrong hands.
- Report any errors or unknown charges immediately.
- Always take your charge slips and destroy the carbons if present.
